On March 8, 2025, Motherhood NG Initiative joined the world in celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) with a special edition of our Project Safe Birth Outreach. The event took place in the heart of the community, where we reached 25 pregnant women in Egan, Ota, Ogun State with life-saving support to honor their journey into motherhood.
Safe Birth, Safe Mothers
Every year, Nigeria records about 262 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births (World Bank, 2023), one of the highest rates in the world. Many of these deaths are preventable with access to basic maternal care and birth preparedness resources.
Through Project Safe Birth, we distributed free Safe Birth Kits containing essential hygiene and delivery supplies. These kits help expectant mothers prepare for safe delivery and reduce complications associated with childbirth.

Nourishment for Mothers
In addition to the kits, each beneficiary received food items to improve their nutrition and wellbeing during pregnancy. Proper nutrition is vital for both mother and baby, especially in underserved communities where access to healthy meals can be limited.
More Than Kits — It’s Hope & Dignity
This outreach was not just about providing items; it was about celebrating women, affirming their worth, and ensuring they feel supported during one of the most important stages of life. Every smile, every word of gratitude, and every sigh of relief reminded us why we do what we do.
Powered by Love and Community
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the sponsors, volunteers, and community supporters who made this outreach possible. Together, we are building a world where every woman has the right to safe childbirth and dignified maternal care.
Looking ahead
This is only the beginning. With continued support, Project Safe Birth will reach more women, reduce maternal mortality, and inspire healthier communities across Nigeria.
Because when we empower one mother, we empower generations.
